Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal is all set to be among top three clean cities of the country. It has been nominated in the Presidential Awardee list of Cleanliness Survey 2024. In the last cleanliness survey, it had clinched the fifth position, showing tireless work done by Bhopal Municipal Corporation in keeping the city clean.

The names of Dewas and Shahganj also figure in the list of Presidential Awardees.

A total of eight cities of Madhya Pradesh have been nominated for the Cleanliness Survey 2024. These cities will be awarded at a national-level programme to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on July 17, where President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards.

In the category of Super Swachh League cities, Indore has once again delivered outstanding performance in category of cities with over 10 lakh population. It may once again clinch the top clean city award. In category of cities with population between 3 to 10 lakh, Ujjain has been nominated. Likewise, in towns with population over 20,000, Budhni has made the cut.

In Super League category, only those cities are included which have performed best over the last three years and have consistently shown progress.

Meanwhile, Jabalpur has been nominated for the Ministerial Awardee (Special Category). Gwalior has been nominated in the Ministerial Awardee (State Level) category.

Sources said that on the day of the award function, star ratings of Garbage-Free Cities, along with status of Open Defecation Free (ODF) and Water Plus cities, will also be released.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Minister of State Pratima Bagri, and officials of the Urban Administration and Development (UAD) department are expected to attend the event.

The nomination of eight cities from Madhya Pradesh in the national cleanliness survey is a clear sign that the state is taking significant steps to maintain cleanliness and expand efforts with great dedication.
