Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Over 2,500 flats, built by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the Housing For All (HFA) scheme, remain unallotted due to delays in approvals from the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).

According to the BMC’s revenue department, five major HFA projects in Bhauri, Kalkheda, Bagmugaliya, 12 No., and Kokta await RERA clearances. As a result, noallotment offers have been invited for these properties over the past four years.

While the prolonged delays have left thousands of beneficiaries waiting despite construction being completed in several locations, BMC officials claim that progress is being made.

Also, an earlier attempt by the BMC to invite offers without RERA registration for the Neelbad project led to heavy penalties, causing the corporation to adopt a cautious approachwith pending projects.

Meanwhile, BMC Superintending Engineer Udit Garg said that over 500 flats in the Ganga Nagar projecthave recently received RERA approval.

‘Process to begin soon’

BMC Chairman Kishan Suryavanshi told Free Press that possession allotment for theseflats will begin soon. He also hoped that RERA permissions for the remaining projects would be granted within the year, after which the allotment process would commence promptly.
