Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 42-year-old woman has tested positive for COVID-19 in Bhopal, marking the first confirmed case of 2025 in the city on Tuesday.

Her RT-PCR report came back positive on Tuesday evening at 7:17 PM. She is currently admitted to a private hospital's private ward.

According to information, the woman had visited the OPD with symptoms of fever and sore throat, which led doctors to recommend testing.

So far this year, 31 COVID-positive cases have been reported across Madhya Pradesh.

According to Dr. Sharma, a specialist in chest diseases, around 15–20% of OPD patients show COVID-like symptoms. Doctors recommend them to wear masks, but very few follow this advice during return visits.

Dr. Yashveer JK, an ENT expert at Hamidia Hospital, noted a rise in throat infection cases, which is common during seasonal changes from summer to monsoon.

He added that COVID and other throat infections often start with irritation or pain in the throat, which can worsen if not treated in time, sometimes making it difficult to speak.

Doctors advise that any throat discomfort should be taken seriously, and people should consult a doctor without delay.

MP May See Rise in COVID Cases If Testing Increases Like Kerala, Say Experts

Health experts believe that if COVID-19 testing in Madhya Pradesh is done on a larger scale, like in Kerala, the number of positive cases could rise sharply.

According to them, many patients showing viral infection symptoms right now may actually be COVID-positive, but they are not being tested.

Doctors are observing a growing number of people with fever, sore throat, and breathing issues—symptoms that are also common in COVID cases. If testing is increased, many hidden cases may come to light, experts warn.
