Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Public Transport has been told to install Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) and Emergency Button (Panic Button) in public service vehicles, buses, taxis etc. by August 1, 2022.
Principal Secretary Transport Faiz Ahmed Kidwai said that in order to provide security to women passengers, a notification in this regard has been issued by the Union ministry of transport making mandatory to install Vehicle Location Tracking Device and Emergency Button (Panic Button) in public service vehicles, buses, taxis etc.
Kidwai said that it has been made mandatory to install vehicle location tracking device and panic button in all public service vehicles registered before December 31, 2018.
He said that action is being taken to register the institutions for installing tracking devices in vehicles. Information of registered entities will be issued from time to time. A state-level control room is being set up at the Transport Office, Bhopal for vehicle location tracking devices. This control room will do real time tracking of all public service vehicles.
