Bhopal: The revenue department has made up its mind to relieve patwaris from their key work in the state. The department is gearing up to appoint an agency to do the works including land demarcation and distribution, presently done by the patwaris. Any farmer by paying a fixed fee will be able to get demarcation and land related works done from the agency. The government often gets complaints against patwaris. The shortage of patwaris also leads to delay in disposal of applications.

When the government takes action on them, they go on strike leading to inconvenience to people and the government. To deal with such conditions, preparations are being made to outsource the works of Patwaris. Apart from this, ways are being explored to lessen the dependency on employees by outsourcing the works of revenue department.

An arrangement on the lines of Karnataka under which correction in Land Khasra will only be done by a higher authority, is also under contemplation. This will be done to ensure that the work of name change on land records could not be done manually. Revenue department, principal secretary, Arun Pandey said several types of amendments in the works related to land documents are being made so that farmers and land owners may not face inconvenience.
