Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 31-year-old woman was allegedly raped at one of the posh hotels in the city, sources said on Monday. The accused and the victims had met through a matrimonial website.
The victim, a resident of the old city area of Bhopal, works as a staff nurse at a hospital in Vidisha. Two years ago, she made her profile on a matrimonial site - Shadi.com. Through the matrimonial site, she met with a resident of Mumbai.
The accused introduced himself as the owner of a construction company. After family members of both sides agreed to marriage, he started making phone calls to the victim.
In her complaint to police, the victim said accused had visited Bhopal and stayed at hotel Noor-ur-Sabha hotel in 2020. He asked victim to meet him at his hotel. As marriage was fixed, the victim went to meet him. He, as the victim claimed, raped her on the pretext of marriage for three days.
Later, the accused refused to marry following which the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Koh-e-Fiza police station incharge Anil Vajpayee said a case under Section 376 of IPC has been registered. Investigation is on.
