Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A criminal allegedly opened fire at a transgender in Bhopal late on Tuesday night. The incident took place at the time when policemen were removing check points as corona curfew was to be lifted.

The victim identified as Simran, 30, a resident of Mangalwara, told police that she received a phone call from her friend Munna Magistrate on Monday evening. As she knew him, she agreed to meet him.

The duo met near Kamla Park. The victim told police that Munna forced her to sit on his bike. Subsequently, the accused turned his bike towards Indira Nagar. When the victim inquired, the accused informed her that they were going to his rented house in Indira Nagar.

The survivor refused to go. She later jumped off the bike near AVM Hospital. Fearing that the survivor will approach police, the accused shot at her. However, the bullet didn’t hit the survivor.

When she raised alarm and shouted for help, the accused escaped from the spot. She, subsequently, approached police and lodged a complaint.

Additional superintendent of police (Zone-3 Bhopal) Ram Snehi Mishra said accused Munna Magistrate is a notorious criminal of the city. “He was released on bail few days back. More than a dozen cases are registered against him. A case of attempt to murder has been registered and he will be arrested soon,” Mishra told Free Press.
