Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Kolar police have arrested notorious criminal Durgesh aka Jitu Yadav from a hotel in Dhule, Maharashtra, on Tuesday night after a three-month-long manhunt. He carried a reward of Rs 40,000 on his arrest.
DCP Mayur Khandelwal said the suspect, who has over 20 criminal cases registered against him, was absconding in connection with an attempt to murder and extortion case lodged in January. He had been changing locations across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to evade arrest.
Police tracked him using technical inputs and arrested him from a hotel in Dhule. He has been taken on police remand for questioning. Police officials said Yadav was linked to an illegal LPG black marketing racket in the Kolar area, where police had earlier arrested him and his aides with 92 LPG cylinders.
Two suspects who escaped from Nazirabad police custody arrested
Bhopal (Rural) police have arrested two suspects who had earlier escaped from police custody at Nazirabad police station.
The suspects, Javed alias Kala and Iqbal Khan, had been arrested under the Arms Act and the theft charges, but escaped from the police station on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ramsharan Prajapati had announced a reward of Rs 5,000 each for information leading to their arrest.
On Tuesday, Iqbal Khan (34), a resident of Bhorasa village, was apprehended from Berasia bus stand while allegedly attempting to flee. On Wednesday, Javed alias Kala (30), also a resident of Bhorasa village, was arrested in the Berasia area.
Both suspects have been sent to jail following their arrest. Meanwhile, in connection with the escape incident, police have suspended a constable on charges of negligence, officials confirmed.
