BHOPAL: Revenue, science and technology minister Umashankar Gupta conducted bhumi-pujan for ‘pink parking’— a parking lot to be developed specifically for women — opposite SBI branch at Ganesh Chowk on Sunday.

Gupta said New Market should be made air-conditioned and smart market. He also said that business would increase with the facilities provided to the people and that complete cooperation would be extended to make New Market a smart market.

The new parking will have space for about 200 two-wheelers and trolleys will also be available for the shoppers. The parking is being developed by New Market Vyapari Mahasangh for Rs 10 lakh. President of mahasangh Satish Gangrade said another such parking would be developed near Top ‘N Town. Umashankar Gupta also inaugurated a pyau at Jawahar Chowk near Hanuman Mandir in the presence of residents and local representatives.
