Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Light rain drenched Bhopal on Saturday evening providing the much needed relief from humid weather. Though it was a brief spell, it nonetheless brought relief.
After heavy rain on Friday, it was humid once again during the day time in the city on Saturday. But by the evening it turned pleasant and people flocked to Upper Lake. There was a rush of visitors at Upper Lake (Boat Club). People enjoyed boat rides with family and children.
Though there was no water logging, the pothole-filled roads created problems for the people in many areas. Roads turned muddy with spells of light rain and motorists had to face problems in negotiating traffic.
It exposed tall claims of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) which usually put private construction companies in the dock for not repairing roads on time.
Nevertheless, the Public Works Department (PWD) has already been told to be prepared for road construction and repair in the rainy season.
At the temperature front, there was a rise of 2.1 degrees Celsius. The day temperature settled at 35.3 degrees Celsius while it recorded a minimum of 24.9 degrees Celsius. Humidity was 88pc in the morning and by evening it was 57pc.
The meteorological department in its forecast, predicted heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours in the city. As the south-west monsoon has become active in the entire state, trend of rain and thundershower is expected to continue.
