Udaigarh: Over 150 fourth grade employees posted at block education office here in Udaigarh are not getting their payments since last five to six month and now they are on verge of begging for money to survive.
Employees claimed that when they complained to the block education officer (BEO) Dr Suraj Singh, regarding the same they were asked to submit a written application.
When the workers submitted a written application to the BEO, instead of taking any action, he refused their plea and told them that he would provide wages to only those workers who have Unique ID cards (UID). Whereas according to the rules, unique ID is compulsory only for regular workers and not for the workers on the post of contingency, collector and even if it is required now it is the responsibility of the BEO to complete the formalities and maintain register of record of such ID holders.
On the contrary the truth is that the compulsory registers for fourth grade teachers and ID holders have not been maintained or are incomplete. The situation has been the same for a long time and all the BEO’s including Dr Suraj Singh has taken no steps to complete the said records and yet talk about compliance of rules.
There are 25-30 workers among the 150 workers who possess the unique ID, yet they haven’t received their wages. Sirdar, resident Khandalarau, who is the security guard of Government Higher Secondary School where Dr Suraj Singh is principal, has not received his wages for the past 10 months. Even on submitting a written complaint to the principal no action was taken.
As per the circumstances, it seems like BEO Dr Suraj Singh is willingly not paying wages and simply avoiding the matter by putting up the condition of unique ID. It has also been noted in the complaint that Dr Suraj Singh has been found misbehaving with male as well as female workers. If the same attitude continues the workers shall be bound to revolt against the authority. The questions still remain unanswered regarding the payment of wages and change in behavior of the BEO. Will the asst commissioner Satish Singh take no action against the matter?
When contacted, BEO Singh said that he has already filed applications for the unique ID and shall provide the wages as soon as the IDs are made available. On the matter of misbehavior he simply denied the act saying that he has never misbehaved or taken advantage of his authority but if the workers find it so he shall take care of it.
