Bhopal: The new state Congress president Kamal Nath seems to have taken a tough stand as far as observing discipline in the party is concerned. Congress leaders and workers had direct and unlimited access for airing their views to previous state presidents including Subhash Yadav, Suresh Pachauri, Kantilal Bhuria and Arun Yadav.
On the contrary, Nath does not meet anyone without an appointment. Not even his confidants who have been appointed in Congress office. Congress media committee chairman Manak Agarwal said that it is true that Nath meets people only on appointment but now he meets Congress workers coming to Pradesh Congress Committee office.
Agarwal said that Nath is punctual and disciplined. He wants to get work done on time, added Agarwal. While former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh is taking out a samanvaya yatra to pacify discontentment in the Congress leaders, Nath’s attitude may annoy the party leaders and raise new problems for the party in MP.
Nath is conducting regular meeting across the state but leaders who get even slightly late for the meeting, have to face the music. He also made some of the former ministers to wait for hours. Those who make phone calls to Nath, to provide information about the state, have also been advised not to call persistently. Most of the Congress leaders now speak to Naths’ assistant. Congressmen are worried over Naths’ attitude at a time when elections are near. It may prove dear to the party.
