Bhopal: ‘Dull’, ‘poor’, ‘bakwas’, ‘boring’. These were the words used by the audience, as they came out of the Raj Multiplex in Jinsi after watching much-hyped and controversial movie ‘Indu Sarkar’ on Friday. There are nine single-screen theatres in the city but the movie, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar released only in multiplexes due to its controversy.

However, multiplexes scheduled very few screenings of the movie. Even the number of audience was very thin, especially females. The number of audience of first show at the multiplex was 40 while 80 in second show on the first day. However, the seating capacity of the theatre is 348.

“Bekar hai …. The movie is worse than Emergency. I never ever imagined that Bhandarkar will make such kind of third class movie. I wasted my time and money. He made us upset,” said Hitesh Shrimalviya who works in a private firm.

Similarly, Naresg Lakhwani, a businessman said, “There is nothing to see in the film, neither at the starting nor ending. Everyone knows a bit of Emergency which is shown in the movie, but nothing new in it. We came here to get some new information about Emergency. I will give one star to Madhur Bhandarkar for making such a dull movie.” He further said, “It may be due to many cuts in the movie before being released that it has become so dull.”

“It is a bogus movie. There is nothing ultimate to see. Everything in the movie is poor whether it is direction, story or acting. I heard a lot of controversy regarding this but nothing like that in the movie,” said Dinesh Ahuja, a businessman adding, “When the film ends, it seems it will start. I think, the director must be thinking to make ‘Indu Sarkar part-2’. I enjoyed my popcorn more.”

“The movie is not appealing. When I entered the theatre, I was surprised to see I was the only woman who had come to watch the movie. The movie was so boring that some of the audience were busy in their smarts phone,” said Manisha, a media student.

Azizuddin, owner of Raj and Alpana Cineplex said, “We have four shows of the movie. The response has been poor on first day. The number of viewers was 120 for two shows on the first day. Since it is a Muslim area, we are hoping that the night show may go houseful,” adding, “Since the movie is controversial, I didn’t allow any Congress people here.”

We have no objection to the movie but we are pained to see a person who is not alive being portrayed in a negative light. We have no objection, if the movie is made for social and educational cause. I think the director and actor Anupam Kher should do a film on ‘vyapam scam’. It is one of the biggest scams in the country which took lives of many youths and ruined the lives of several others.

– Deepti Singh, Congress spokesperson

I think there is nothing wrong in it. Everyone has right of freedom of speech and expression. And movie is mirror of society. We show in movie what occurs in society. It is guilty of Congress not filmmaker.

– Deepak Vijayvargiya, BJP spokesperson
