Bhopal: Divisional Commissioner Kalpana Shrivastava said that 11 lakh saplings will be planted in the division under Harit- Sambhag Abhiyan. In Bhopal city, 5 lakh saplings will be planted and saplings will be provided at rate of Rs12 per sapling. She made this announcement at a meeting on Friday in which CCF and BMC commissioner and others staff were present.
She said, “Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in its study has found that 44 per cent of forest areas reduced in the last two decades. And if situation continues, it will be only 4 per cent forest by 2030.” BMC commissioner has been instructed to ensure centre or points for sell of plants. She also focused on raising the awareness in public through social media. Programme like e-Tree challenge and Gift–e-Tree will be launched to raise awareness in Bhopal.
