Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): BJP leader and state culture minister Usha Thakur on Wednesday demanded to hang rapists till death at public places.
While talking to journalists in Bhopal, Thakur said rapists, especially those who target minor girls, should be hanged at squares. “I will run a signature campaign to garner support for my demand to hang rapists in public places,” she said.
She further added that she would soon meet chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and would demand that Madhya Pradesh should draft a law to punish rapists.
Thakur was replying to queries of journalists regarding increasing rape cases in Madhya Pradesh. She said that there must be terror in criminals’ minds, if they target a woman, they will be hanged to death in public. Notably, several rape cases with minor girls were reported in past few days in the state.
