Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A Gurugram-based auto driver has been booked for raping a 24-year-old woman from city whom he met on social media platform. The man during his visit to Bhopal had established physical relations with the woman on promise to marry her, which he never kept, said Sukhi Sewaniya police on Tuesday.

The woman has filed the complaint against her social media friend who allegedly raped her on pretext of marriage, said police. The woman along with her family had shifted to Bhopal around two years ago. She came in contact with Harsh Swami (22), an auto driver on a social media platform. The two soon became good friends.

In March,  Harsh came to Bhopal and stayed at the woman’s house. During his stay, the two got intimate and the man, promising to marry her soon, established physical relations. After returning to Gurugram, Harsh started ignoring the woman. Initially whenever the woman raised the issue of marriage, they would come up with an excuse.

When he gradually stopped taking her calls, the woman understood that he would not keep his promise. The woman approached the police and filed a complaint. The police have registered the case under section 376- 2-(N) of IPC and SC/ST Prevention of Atrocity Act. A police team will head for Gurugram to arrest the accused.
