Bhopal: Female candidates will be given a relaxation of 3 cms in height in police recruitment. Minimum height criterion for the female candidates which was 158 cm earlier for the police recruitment will now be 155 cm. The state cabinet gave its approval to this relaxation on Monday.

The benefit of the relaxation will be availed by the female candidates appearing in the upcoming examinations- just the way CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced earlier. The cabinet also waived off Rs 10 lakh from the amount of Rs 34 lakh to be recovered from Rashmi Shukla, an IAS officer availing voluntary retirement scheme (VRS).

Shukla was served a recovery notice by the government when she applied for leaving her job after undergoing foreign training on the expense of state and the central government. The state government waived of the anount of its share as the expense on her foreign training.

The cabinet also gave its nod to the hike in compensation given by revenue department for damage to the crops under horticulture. A compensation of up to Rs 1 lakh would be given on damage to crops of banana and grapes. A discussion on exporting soyabean to China, in the wake of ban by America, was also taken up by the cabinet. A delegation of state government would be visiting China in this concern. CM also held a discussion with Union minister Suresh Prabhu on this issue.

Agitation for height relaxation

Female candidates, who had appeared in the examination for recruitment of constables, have been agitating in the state capital for relaxation in the height criterion. They would not get the benefit of the cabinet approval on relaxation in height. Earlier, the female candidates had to go to jail when commotion took place in CM’s programme. Public relations minister Narottam Mishra, commenting on the benefit of the decision, said nothing could be said now about those girl candidates getting the benefit of relaxation in height criterion.
