Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Economic Offences Wing on Friday registered a case against seven people including former sarpanchs of Alhed village of Manasa Tehsil in Neemuch district for providing monetary benefits to their relatives through tenders and leasing out land that belonged to cremation ghat.
The case has been registered against former sarpanchs Sampat Bai and Angoorbala Mali, gram panchayat secretary Sugna Salvi, Angoorbala’s son and proprietor of Yashika construction firm Arjun Mali, Sugna Salvi’s husband and proprietor of Disha Constructions Champalal Salvi, Gyanchandra Mali and Mathuralal.
EOW officials said investigations revealed that in 2015, the then sarpanch Angoorbala Mali and secretary Sugna Salvi uploaded information on the panchayat portal regarding construction of a boundary wall of panchayat bhavan with a budget of Rs 1.68 lakh.
However, they concealed the information regarding the repair of panchayat bhawan. It came to fore that Angoorbala transferred the payments of such construction works in the bank account of his son’s firm from 2015 to 2020.
In the separate case, former sarpanch Sampat Bai leased out land belonging to cremation ghat to Mathuralal and his son Gyanchadra on April 4, 2005, for construction of a house.
The next sarpanch Angoorbala and secretary Sugna Salvi granted persmission for construction of house to Gyanchandra on the land despite being aware of the rule that lease of land gets cancelled if construction is not done within a year after its allotment. Panchayat secretary Sugna Salvi also transferred payments related to different works in the bank account of the firm of her husband.
