Hello dear did you have taken your tooth brush, the polling team members were seen exchanging banter on each other, when they gathered at the Lal Parade ground to collect the election kit, here on Tuesday.  The district administration of Bhopal had installed the tent at the ground to distribute the polling material.

Bhopal collector Sudam Khade informed Free Press that in the district total 2266 polling stations pre present and 588 polling stations are critical, “In these stations the additional CRPF personnel, CCTV, web casting and special observers are appointed, to conduct free and fair elections”.

He added that around 70 polling stations are having the queue-less facility and 26 polling stations are Pink Booth.  He added that around 25,000 polling staff including 6000 police personnel will perform election duties, “The district administration along with the police force, will take help of Dial-100 for the elections”.  He added that an air-ambulance is present to check any untoward situation.

He added that special arrangements are made for the pregnant women as they will be provided queue-less entry at the polling stations. Similarly specially abled persons will also have the facility.  He said sitting arrangements, mobile toilets have been installed for the voters, “We hope that we will break our previous record of polling percentage”.

The polling team members started gathering at the ground at sharp 8 am, the administration had established the sitting arrangements, in which four chairs and one table was given. He election kit was given to each of the team and they were told to sharply observe the kit, a check list was also given to the team to verify the contents of the package.

A small office was set up, including computer and printer a photocopy machine was present to deal with any requirement. Working lunch was given to the members and all the teams started leaving the ground at around 1.30 pm, till 3 pm no team remained in the ground.

Humour to tackle tension

The team members seemed visibly tensed while handling the election kit, to ease up the situation the seniors played prank and asked their counterparts ‘have you taken your under wear’.  Teams reached to the polling station on Tuesday evening and they will leave the station on Wednesday after completing the polling.

For them the day will start at around 5.30 am, they had to conduct the mock polling at 7 pm and the OK report had to be sent to the district returning officer.  Earlier a message had gone viral on social media about the personal need of the polling party members.

In the list 22 items were written and for the women employees some additional items are also required, which are not mentioned in the list. Most of the items are personal and some are official. Among the personal items the small torch, soap, medicine, glucose, biscuits, tooth brush and paste, hair oil, comb, towel, bed sheet, blanket, sleeper. Cash, under wear, socks, mosquito coil, match box, water bottle, glass, plate and spoon. Extra photocopy of duty letter, pen, phone charger, power bank for the mobile, phone charger, plane papers and few more.
