Bhopal: Disabled persons get mere assurance, continue sit-in

BHOPAL: A delegation of agitating disabled persons called on the chief minister’s OSD AK Bhatt on Wednesday for fulfillment of their three-point demands including Rs 3000 pension per month and either job or unemployment allowance.

The disabled persons had assembled in the state capital on World Disability Day. A section staged a demonstration at Polytechnic Square at CM House. They are still continuing  dharna.

Nearly, 5000 disabled persons under banner of Asthibadhit Nishakt Jan Ekta Samiti had arrived at the state capital to participate in a convention at Ravindra Bhavan on World Disability Day. However, social justice and disability welfare department did not make any arrangement of lunch, breakfast and even for cup of tea for them. They had come to the state capital from all over the state to join the convention.

Savita Dubey, treasurer of the Samiti said, “The CM’s OSD, AK Bhatt had called us today. We went for meeting but only assurance was given. So we continued to stage dharna for our three demands including Rs 3000 pension and either job or unemployment allowance.”
