Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Reviewing women’s safety in the state, the Director General of Police (DGP), Kailash Makwana, on Monday called for regular patrolling near educational institutions to safeguard girls against harassment, and immediate action on complaints.

He also instructed that a beat officer be made the nodal officer for every girls’ and working women’s hostel. He also underscored the importance of fast action on women’s complaints.

The DGP called for intensifying the campaign against the drug mafia. He said effective action was as important as awareness campaigns against drug abuse.

He said that police personnel or officers posted at one place for a long time should be deployed on a rotation basis. Likewise, drivers posted with the same officer or in the police station for a long time should also be deployed on a rotation basis, he said.

In the meeting, Special DG, Women Safety, Anil Kumar, also reviewed the shortcomings in the investigation related to Operation Muskaan, Operation Helping Hand, and crimes against women, and gave necessary guidelines to the field officers.
