Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) head constable Harish Chand who was killed in an attack by Maoists in Chhattisgarh was cremated with full state honour at Subash Nagar Vishram Ghat, here on Saturday. Public relation minister PC Sharma received the body at station and paid respect.
Head constable Chand was killed in the gun battle in the forest near Chameda village in Dhamtari district when a joint team of CRPF’s 211 battalions and District Force (DF) was out on an anti-Naxal operation. The body reached Bhopal by Amarkantak Express, along with the other officials the minister Sharma also received the body.
The 13-year-old daughter performed the last rights of her father. At the cremation ground Sharma, DGP VK Singh, IG Jaideep Prasad, CRPF-IG Pramod Kumar Pandey, Collector Sudam Khade, DIG Vijay Kumar and Irshad Wali and others were present. Those reached the house of martyr include former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, MP Alok Sanjar and MLA Krishna Gaur.
