Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The number of new corona cases and that of active ones are equal to the figure of patients the state saw in December last year. There were 137 new cases and 2,200 active cases on Saturday. Now, the number of corona cases is equal to the figure of patients the state witnessed in December last year and in February this year.

The markets were, however, open at that time. All activities of the government continued. For this reason, the closure of markets has spawned resentment among the traders. The markets have been shut for two months in the state capital. Although the markets in rest of the big cities in the state have been reopened, they are still closed in Indore and Bhopal. The traders are incurring a huge loss because of the closure of markets.

As wedding ceremonies are held in June, the traders are mounting pressure on the government to let them reopen their business establishments. The traders want that the corona curfew should be completely lifted after June 15.

According to the president of the New Market Traders’ Association, Satish Gangrade, the traders have been assured that the administration will allow reopening of the market after June 15. He says that, if all the shopkeepers are allowed to restart their establishments, there will not be much crowd and the businessmen will not incur losses.

President of the Kirana Vyapari Mahasangh Kundandas says that all the traders are waiting for the government guidelines. The association is discussing with the administration how to reopen the business establishments without causing a spread of the pandemic.
