Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Women contestants for the posts of corporators and other Congress workers recited Hanuman Chalisa at Hanuman Temple located inside the old jail premises on Tuesday, where EVMs have been kept in the strong room.
Raj Singh, one of the contestants, along with several other women workers were ‘on duty’, monitoring the strong room, where EVMs are kept after voting was held for Bhopal Municipal Corporation.
“Being Tuesday, today was Hanuman Ji’s day. So, we recited Hanuman Chalisa and prayed that EVMs, in which our fates are sealed, remain safe and tamper-proof,” said Raj Singh.
She said that Congress workers were deployed at the old jail premises shift-wise to keep an eye on CCTV of strong room that is telecast live outside. Senior Congress leaders including PC Sharma reached the spot and talked to senior officials including collector Bhopal to ensure free and fair vote count.
