Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress on Wednesday filed a police complaint at the Shyamla Hills police station, demanding registration of an FIR against Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah over his alleged derogatory remarks about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.

The complaint was submitted by a delegation led by MP Congress state president Jitu Patwari. The party has accused Shah of insulting a woman Army officer and defaming Indian Army through his comments.

"Statements like these not only demean an officer but dishonour dignity of armed forces," the Congress said in a statement.

Moreover, Patwari has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to remove Vijay Shah from the ministerial post.

In his letter, Patwari also called for such statements to be classified as criminal offences, stressing the need for strong legal deterrents to prevent future instances of verbal attacks on defence personnel.
