Bhopal: Congress accuses minister’s wife of corrupt practices

BHOPAL: Congress has accused Ayush minister of state Harsh Singh’s relatives of indulging in corruption while buying property as Nagar Parishad president of Rampur Baghelan in Satna district.

Chief spokesperson KK Mishra alleged in a press conference that minister’s wife Madhvi Singh, who is president of the Nagar Parishad of Rampur Baghelan of Satna district, sold her land to the Parishad. As president she purchased the land on behalf of Parishad for bus stand. Mishra alleged that the entire deal was done in violation of set norms.

Parishad was keen to renovate and extend the bus stand area. However, as no government land was available, Parishad decided to purchase Madhvi Singh’s 2730 square feet of land for Rs 27,90,592. The registration cost was estimated to Rs 2,59,554.

Mishra alleged that the said that against the market rate of Rs 2,600 per squar metre, the parishad bought the land at a whopping Rs 11,000 per square metre.

He also added that if the Parishad wanted land then it should have contacted a competent authority that is the district collector. The collector is entitled to acquire land under the Land Acquisition Act, he said and added that the Parishad had no power to purchase land.

He demanded high level inquiry into the matter and claimed that the party would file a complaint with the police and the Lokayukta in this regard.
