Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan owes Rs 63.18 lakh to banks for various loans while his wife Sadhna Singh is in debt of Rs 6.5 crore. Sadhna also owes Rs 16 lakh to her husband Shivraj! CM Chouhan filed his nomination paper from Budhni constituency on Monday along with all his property details and criminal cases. Chouhan has no criminal case against him. The property details mentioned in affidavit do not show any considerable rise in assets of Chouhan or his wife.
CM Shivraj has taken a loan of Rs 34 lakh from the State Bank of India. He has availed an education loan of Rs 27 lakh for his son Kunal Singh, who is studying in the US. Chouhan also owes Rs 2.18 lakh to a cooperative bank. Overall, the CM has a liability of Rs 63.18 lakh to various banks. Besides other major loans from banks, Sadhna has also taken advance from her husband Shivraj. Sadhna owes Rs 16.5 lakh as advance to her husband. She had also taken advance from her husband in 2013. The amount was Rs 14 lakh.
The new venture of Chouhan family — the dairy business lies on Sadhna’s shoulders. She has shown a 30% partnership in Messr Sunder Dairy which is a partnership firm. She has taken a loan of Rs 6 crore from district cooperative bank Vidisha for the venture. Sadhna Singh has another loan from Agriculture Cooperative Society, Vidisha of Rs 2.17 lakh. She has also taken a loan from a private individual RK Chowdhary of Rs 28 lakh.
Overall, Sadhna has a debt of more than Rs 6.5 crore. The cash-in-hand situation of CM and his wife has improved compared to previous assembly elections. In 2013, Shivraj had Rs 10.50 lakh cash in bank which has now increased to Rs 20 lakh. Sadhna Singh had cash of Rs 1.80 lakh in 2013 which has now increased to Rs 11 lakh.
As far as properties are concerned, Shivraj is owner of a house worth Rs 30 lakh in Vidisha and another at Rivera Town in Bhopal worth Rs 1 crore. Shivraj’s agricultural assets include land at his ancestral place in Jait worth Rs 16.50 lakh, in Vidisha worth Rs 52 lakh and in village Dholukhedi worth Rs 85 lakh. Shivraj also owns four green poly-houses worth Rs 68 lakh.
Meanwhile, Sadhna Singh owns a flat in Arera Colony in Bhopal worth Rs 30 lakh besides owning two warehouses worth Rs 72 lakh. She also has on her name three poly-houses worth Rs 2.90 crore and land in Vidisha worth Rs 32 lakhs. Shivraj has movable assets worth Rs 43.20 lakh while his wife Sadhna owns assets worth Rs 88 lakh. The last Income-Tax return filed by CM Chouhan shows his annual income of Rs 19.70 lakh while Sadhna has shown Rs 37.94 lakh as her income for the year 2017-18.
