Bhopal: CM hails efforts of Modi, Jaitley for rolling out GST

Bhopal: Praising the efforts of PM Narendra Modi and finance minister Arun Jaitley in rolling out GST, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the new tax regime would benefit the economic health of the nation in long term.

Chouhan was speaking on GST which is set to roll out from July 1, where he said the public would get freedom from different types of taxes and would be exempted from visiting offices for the same. Terming it a historical moment he said after GST it would be easy to do any business without bothering about the series of taxes.

He also said the new system would equally benefit farmers and the common man. Toll booths and check posts would be abolished. Small traders would benefit. It would end inspector raj. He said all apprehensions of states, which were related with the new tax system, had been redressed. Even after, remaining apprehensions would be removed through finance ministers of state in GST Council.

He said only luxury goods would see price rise otherwise the price of goods used by common man was to come down. Chouhan said GST help desk had been set up at every stage by commercial tax department in MP. There are 101 such help desks. Department officials have been imparted training for GST and around 300 plus workshops have also been organised across the state in which new tax system GST has been explained at micro level.
