Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Unidentified thieves, possibly mistaking it for an expensive gadget, stole a boy’s hearing aid component worth Rs 2 lakh on Mahamana Express. Following a complaint by the boy’s mother, the Government Railway Police (GRP) have registered an FIR and launched an investigation.
According to reports, Gomti Lodhi, a resident of Khajuraho district, along with her 12- year-old son Abhinav had boarded Mahamana Express for Bhopal on March 30. The duo was traveling in D-6 coach.
Abhinav, having hearing impairment since birth, had got a cochlear implant provided under the Chief Minister's Child Hearing Treatment scheme.
The child had received an aide of Rs 6.5 lakh from Panna CMHO under the National Child Health Program as funding for the implant.
A component of the device was implanted inside Abhinav's ear while an external device was carried by him. The thieves mistaking the device for some precious gadget took it away.
Gomti Lodhi approached GRP at Bhopal junction and lodged a complaint. Following investigations, an FIR was registered on April 2. GRP sub inspector RC Medha said that CCTV footage are being scanned to track down the culprits.
