BHOPAL: Of the three accused arrested by the police in connection with the train blast case, Danish and Mir Hussain have completely broken down and have given many pieces of vital information to the police. They say that besides waging jihad for Darul Islam, they also wanted to make big moolah. And they were assured by Atish alias Arif if money was what they wanted, they would get it.
They were told by Atish that once they succeeded in their mission, they would be rolling in wealth and they joined him out of greed. Both of them come from families of humble means and the lure of lucre sucked them into the morass of crime. They were hopeful that after engineering this blast, they would start getting money from overseas.
In fact, they were trying to secure foreign funding for long but could not succeed. They were planning to mount a major attack to impress their potential financiers. Sources said Atish had arranged around Rs 50 lakh by selling his land for initial expenses. But they wanted more for their future expenses and so they decided to engineer the blast to show their prowess.
Used to chat overnight
Atish and his associates used to chat with unidentified persons abroad all through the night at the house in Thakurganj in Lucknow, where Saifullah was killed in an encounter. They have admitted that during the chatting, they were provided links which they could use to get information about terrorist organisations. They had learnt the technique of manufacturing bombs, firearms and other tools of terrorists through the Internet. They had selected Madhya Pradesh as their first target as they thought they would get away with it easily in comparison with other states.
