BHOPAL: The ATS produced three accused of the ISI espionage case in the district court on Thursday, two days before the expiry of their police remand. They were sent on judicial remand.

Legal experts say that this means that the three – Dhruv Saxena, Manish Gandhi and Mohit Agarwal – are no longer required by the police for probing the case and their counsels may now apply for bail. Sources said that it seems the police could not gather much evidence against them.

The police remand of three was ending on February 18. However, they were produced in the court on Friday, from where they were sent to jail till February 27. Another accused Balram Singh will continue to be on police remand till the stipulated period. Rajan Tiwari, a close aide of Balram, was produced in the court on Friday and he was sent on police remand till February 21.

Four more held in ISI case

The ATS has detained one more associate of the alleged ISI agent Balram Singh from Maihar jail of Satna district. Rajiv Tiwari was arrested by the Satna police in an NDPS case. He was found trafficking cannabis and was sent to Maihar jail. The ATS took the accused on protection warrant and brought him to Bhopal on Thursday for interrogation. As the Rajiv was involved in various criminal activities Balram had used his services for running his racket.

Sources said ATS has detained three SIM distributors from Indore on Thursday. They were involved in providing SIM cards to the ISI agent. Earlier the ATS have arrested some agents from Indore.
