Bhopal: Congress state president Kamal Nath’s demand of release of White Paper on SC agitation in the state on April 2, has put Bharatiya Janata Party on active mode. Mehgaon MLA Mukesh Chaudhary on Wednesday handed over a memorandum to CM demanding a probe into the deaths of people in SC agitation and financial assistance to their kin.

Chouhan has given assurance of an impartial probe of the incident and financial assistance to the affected families. Choudhary was accompanied by minister Lal Singh Arya and Narottam Mishra. Kamal Nath had raised the same issue in his letter to Chouhan.

Eight people died in the incident but the government has not given any financial assistance to their kin . In an earlier incident, on the death of a farmer in Mandsaur, government had given Rs 1 crore as a financial assistance to his kin.

The issue of non provision of financial assistance to the families of those who lost their life is further aggravating resentment in the areas which saw SC agitation. The leaders of BJP have come forward in this issue to prevent Congress from taking political mileage over the issue. Sources said an announcement of compensation to the families of people who died in the SC agitation may take place soon.
