Twenty four zika virus positive has been reported in Bhopal till Saturday. According to Health department sources, suspected cases have been sent to AIIMS from Bhopal. Two deaths have also been reported but health department has not confirmed it. First death was reported from Kolar when a 20-years-old youth died while second death has been reported from Ishwar Nagar when 23-years-old girl died.
Though, the health department has dubbed it to be a normal death. Blood samples are being collected from affected areas.
Last week, central team had come to Bhopal and advised the health department to change the fogging pattern to control Zika virus mosquito.
Focus is being made on pregnant women. So far, 155 suspected pregnant women are under scanner in Bhopal and their reports are pending with AIIMS. As far fogging is concerned, it is totally suspended in the state capital. Many areas have not been covered for fogging.
However, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) health cell and Malaria department jointly launched the campaign which covers fogging and larva identification. Main thrust has been given in containment area which covers a 3 km radius of Char Imli, where top bureaucrats and ministers live. As same mosquito which is responsible for dengue and chikengyna spread Zika virus are found in other areas too. Saket Nagar –Shakti Nagar and E-7 of Arera colony are among the areas worst affected with dengue.
