BHOPAL: Police have booked a man who sexually assaulted a 19-year-old girl he had befriended online. The man took the girl to Indore on pretext of getting her a job and left her at the railway station.

The girl when failed to search the accused lodged a police complaint in Indore. The case was transferred to Bhopal in Ashoka Garden on Friday.

The girl, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, had come in contact with the accused Sunil Goel a year ago. Police said, the girl worked for an online firm and had lost her job during lockdown a year ago. The girl was in touch with the accused who also worked with an online company. They began chatting and soon became friends. Goel then offered her a job in Bhopal.

The girl city on June 8. Goel took the girl to his rented accommodation in Ashoka Garden and sexually assaulted her.

Later, he took her to Indore saying that he will get her a job there. The girl told police that Goel asked her to wait at the railway station as he had to get photocopies of a few documents for the job.

The girl kept waiting for Goel at the railway station but he did not return. She then lodged a complaint at the Government Railway Police (GRP), Indore and the case was transferred to Ashoka Garden on Friday.

SI Yogita jain said the mobile phone of accused is switched off, police are trying to trace the accused, currently his mobile phone is switched off.
