9 dead, 5 hurt in car-truck collision in Sagar district

Bhopal: Nine people died and five others were grievously injured in a road accident that occurred near Sumalipura under the Malthone police station of Sagar district, on Wednesday. Superintendent of Police Satyendra Shukla said according to the passersby a car (Tavera) which was heading towards Sagar collided head on with the a fatbed- trailer truck loaded with iron bars that was coming from opposite direction at around 11.15 am.

The family in the car were coming from Lalitpur and were on the way to Sagar to fix up the marriage of their son. The girl’s family had organised a function in sagar and were waiting for the family which met the accident. According to the police as the boy’s family were getting late, so the car was allegedly been driven in high speed. The accident allegedly happened after the driver of the trailer failed to respond on the time to allow the car to pass.

Two minors, four girls and three others including the driver of the car were killed in the collision. The deceased are: 63-year-old Prakash Sahu, 15-year-old Subham, 12-year-old Mahak, 7-year-old Pari, Bharti, Kumari, 14-year-old Yogesh and 25-year-old Ankit had died.

The injured have been admitted to the Bundelkhand medical college where the condition of two is serious while that of others is stable. Sub inspector Sandeep Khare said when the accident occurred the trailer lost its balance and left the road. Two cranes had to be called to pull back the trailer. The police have registered a case under sections 304-A 279, 337 of IPC and Section 184 of motor vehicles Act against the driver who is on the run.
