60% MANREGA fund to be used for agriculture production

Dewas : The Indian Government has amended the MANREGA scheme. 60% of the total budget allocated for the scheme will be used directly to enhance agricultural production and other agriculture related activities.

The most important work would be plantation on both sides of the roads. All the roads including national highways will be planted with fruits’ plants. Local farmers will take care of the plants and will be benefited by the production though the trees will be government property. Collector Ashutosh Avasthi instructed the Rural Development and other related departments to bring plan according to the new scheme. He informed that the beneficiaries will be chosen with help of Gram Sabha. He said that the scheme is aimed to ensure employment for as much as possible people. He informed that pots will be used for irrigation and tree guard for safety. Pots and tree guards will be bought from the special castes which conventionally work in these fields. Land turning into agricultural land, vermin compost, Bio gas, making boundaries, water conservation are the works will come under land development works of the scheme. Water conservation is proposed on grand level. Pond, stop dams, Kapil Dhara Kup, CPT are the techniques will be used for water conservation.
