Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The principal bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur will hear cases pertaining to 27 per cent reservation for OBCs, which have been transferred from Supreme Court.
The High Court on Friday heard all the 86 petitions of OBC reservation including eight cases transferred from Supreme Court. The High Court asked Advocate General Prashant Singh to classify all the OBC reservation cases into five sections.
The five sections are – the petitions that are against OBC reservation, second, which favour it, third those which have been filed as per the opinion of General Administration Department and Advocate General.
The fourth section comprises cases, which have been filed by candidates for appointment and the fifth section consists of cases wherein reservation has been demanded in proportion to OBC population.
A notice has been issued to Sagar Central University associate professor Girish Kumar Singh who has filed a petition in the capacity of secretary of political party, Youth for Equality. Advocate Rameshwar Singh Thakur who appeared on behalf of petitioners said, “Advocate General demanded time for 10 days, telling court that Solicitor General Tushar Mehta would argue the case. The court granted time. Next hearing is on January 20, 2025.”
