Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 26-year-old woman was found hanging inside her rented house in Shiv Nagar under Chhola Mandir police station area on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Madhavi Singh, a native of Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, Madhavi’s landlady went to check on her after she failed to come out of her room for a long time. She found her hanging and informed police. Her husband, Shubham Singh was not present when the incident occurred.
Madhavi and Shubham had an arranged marriage two years ago and had been living together in Bhopal. Shubham runs a tea stall near Bhopal railway station.
Madhavi’s family has alleged that Shubham frequently assaulted her and suspected her, leading to regular disputes between the couple. They alleged that she was murdered while claiming that injury marks were visible on her body.
Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Chhola Mandir police said the preliminary investigation suggested suicide but all angles were being examined. Police are questioning Shubham and the neighbours. The exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem report and examination of other evidence, police said.
