Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Two minor boys were injured after their farmer father’s licensed single barrel gun accidentally went off during cleaning under Gunga police station limits on late Friday night.

Police have registered a case of negligence against the father. According to Gunga police, the incident took place in Kotra village. Farmer Santosh Jat was cleaning his licensed gun outside his house at 11 pm.

While attempting to remove a jammed round, his finger slipped on the trigger and the gun discharged.

The gun barrel was pointed towards the wooden door of the house. The pellets pierced the door and entered the room where Santosh’s wife and two children were resting.

The couple’s 16-year-old son sustained pellet injury in his leg while his 12-year-old brother was hit near the temple. Both were rushed to a private hospital where doctors confirmed they are out of danger. Their mother escaped unhurt.

On receiving information from the hospital, police reached the spot and carried out investigation. Police took complaint from Santosh’s wife Rachna in this connection and booked him for negligence under relevant sections. Gunga police station incharge Harishankar Verma said investigations were underway.
