Bhopal: Former chief minister Digvijaya Singh who has so far played an important role in distributing ministries will steer the cabinet. He has given a piece of advice to the new ministers about their work, and SR Mohanty, whose name is ahead of others in the race for the post of chief secretary, enjoys the confidence of Singh. Besides, Singh is thinking about the appointment of the director general of police, and VK Singh may be the man of his choice. Nath has given due importance to Singh after taking oath as chief minister.
Singh, who will keep a vigil on the working of the minister that they may not commit any irregularity, is also showing the ministers the various points of the Vachan Patra (Congress’s poll manifesto) to fix the priorities of the new government. After Nath, Singh has the largest number of supporters in the cabinet, and he is preparing for the administrative reshuffle in the state, and according to reports, he will play an important role in the secretary- level shake-up.
Nath has experience of working for the Union government, while Singh has been the chief minister of the state for ten years, so he knows about most of the officers. Singh will spend most of his times in the state and work to give guidance to the party. It was Singh who told Nath about the preparations for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. That is why he has asked Arun Yadav and Jaiwardhan Singh to collect data. All this denotes the remote control of the government is in the hands of Singh.
