Besides the BS-IV emissions norms compatibility, there is no other cosmetic or mechanical change in the 2016 Honda CB Unicorn 150

After making a successful comeback in the market this year the Honda CB Unicorn 150 outsold its more advanced version, the Unicorn 160. Looking at this phenomenal success of a decade-old product, the company recently launched the updated Unicorn 150 which is BS-IV compliant. There is no other cosmetic or mechanical upgrade in the bike and it has been priced at Rs 69,305 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Honda Unicorn 150 was replaced by the new Unicorn 160 last year in the market. However, the continuous demand of the bike and diminishing market share in the 150cc segment forced the company to relaunch the bike. Before the relaunch, it was also showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in February and just after the launch, it outsold the new model by four times.

Powering the new Honda CB Unicorn 150 is the same decade-old 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with a 5-speed gearbox. The carburetted motor produces 13.3PS at 8,500rpm and delivers a peak torque of 12.84Nm at 5,500rpm. As we mentioned above, there is no other update to the bike and it continues to feature the old-school analog instrument console.

Other features of the bike like the alloy wheels, front telescopic forks, and 240mm front disc brake also remain untouched. However, one feature of the bike was already much advanced in the bike when it was originally launched and that is the rear monoshock suspension. The direct rivals of the Honda CB Unicorn 150 are the Hero Achiever, Bajaj Discover 150 and Yamaha SZ-RR V2.0.
