Toyota Fortuner has been the king of SUVs in India for quite some time now. Despite having been around for quite some time, it has been giving its rivals – such as the Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet Trailblazer – a hard time in the market. But now, the Endeavour has started gaining an edge and, in order to regain its position, Toyota will launch the all-new Fortuner on November 07. Units of this SUV have started arriving at dealerships around the country.

Unit Sales – Month Wise (2016)

Month          Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug
Endeavour: 480 410 385 560 501 465 698 702
Fortuner  :    825 914 481 509 579 911 568 457
This new Fortuner has been due for a long time in the Indian market. Spied at a dealership in Ahmedabad, this black colour model looks handsome with its sleek elongated headlamps with LED DRLs and the extensive use of chrome on the front grille and around the fog lamps. The chrome shoulder line in the side profile accentuates the length of the SUV and the 18-inch alloy wheels complement the masculine looks quite well. The rear too has sleek, elongated lights with a thick chrome badge in the centre.

Mechanically, the car will carry the powertrains from the Innova Crysta. The SUV will have two diesel options and possibility of a petrol cannot be ruled out. The diesel mills are a 2.4 and 2.8-litre 2GD-FTV engines producing 150PS/343Nm and 174PS/360Nm, respectively. The petrol engine is likely to be a 2.7-litre Dual VVT-i unit producing 166PS/245Nm of power and torque. The transmission will be a 5-speed manual or automatic which will be available with the 2.8-litre diesel and the 2.7-litre petrol variants.

Earlier, the SUV was spied in August under heavy camouflage and now, as it has started arriving at dealerships, we expect it to go on display soon.
