Mamata is bound for failure when it comes to targeting Modi; why she needs a strategy change |

After a devastating defeat, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been losing her cool over every move by the BJP. Her actions are in contradiction to what she orates on a public podium. Recently, Mamata and front ranking leaders of her Trinamool Congress changed their display picture on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook to 'Jay Hind, Jay Bangla’. In a Facebook post, she went on to accuse the BJP of mixing religion with politics and urged people to deter any sort of chaos and unrest.

When it comes to mixing the two most sensitive elements under the banner of democracy, Mamata has aced it over the years. With her constant tactics of appeasing the Muslim vote bank, she is now firing statements that go against what she has been doing for long. Before the elections, she announced her intention to attend an iftar party, where she reacted to charges of her “favouring the Muslim community” by saying, “I appease Muslims and will do it 100 times as there is no harm in taking kicks from a cow that gives you milk.” The comparison of a community to an animal didn’t go well and Mamata received flak from the one chunk she highly depended on during the LS polls.

It seems like the TMC leader didn’t learn her lesson from the defeat given by her own people, she went on with the appeasement again during an Eid-ul-Fitr congregation. She took a jibe at the Central government by saying "We will protect our India. We will never turn away from our country. Hum se jo takrayega, woh chur chur ho jayega.” Why is Mamata trying to woo the 27% population and hailing secularism?

A report in Firstpost also revealed that Mamata had allegedly re-painted TMC logo on offices in Naihati area, at North 24 Parganas that were already beaming in saffron. Add this with the ruckus she created on the road, scolding youth who yelled ‘Jai Sri Ram’ at her, calling them criminals, and not from Bengal. This further prompted bhakts all over the country to send her postcards with the same slogan.

Mamata’s deception falls on the same lines of Arvind Kejriwal who despite gaining control on the country’s capital, always had a remark to make on the Central government. The muffler-man wasn’t doing exceptionally well on his part as a Chief Minister. With the seniors of AAP resigning, air pollution reaching a lethal level, women’s safety still a question, his constant attacks resulted in the defeat during LS. Reason? Lack of accountability.

Is Mamata constantly shooting herself in the foot? All these years, the BJP strategically formulated ways to please the Hindu vote bank in the east, a place that was barren for an outsider. Didi didn’t anticipate the larger picture that her territory was tired of her wooing citizens under religious motives. For someone who rose to power from her antics on the street, cannot be seen humble enough to accept her defeat, comes out as a bipolar personality, who is still delusional by assuming there is no fault. By striking out all the signs of a good leader, Mamata’s return to power doesn’t even seem to be debatable in the coming years.
