Strange, isn’t it that even while they insist it is a ‘jumla’ (empty promise), they should unanimously pass the Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill, which seeks to reserve ten per cent jobs in government and educational institutions for the weaker sections in the general category. There were only three nays against 323 yeas in the Lok Sabha when the Bill came up before it for passage on Tuesday. The question begs itself:

If they believe the government was perpetrating a hoax, why were they in the Opposition voting yes for this con job. The honest answer is that no one, not even that self-styled leader of the Dalits, Mayawati, is in a position to oppose a measure for the socio-economic upliftment of the economically disadvantaged people and risk their wrath in the coming Lok Sabha polls. In other words, most of our leaders are hypocrites who do what they don’t mean and say what they certainly do not mean.
