Mumbai: Even after receiving several complaints from a passenger pertaining to his lost baggage, the Airport Authorities of India (AAI) is still clueless of the missing bag. This comes as an embarrassment for the authorities as it has been more than a month since the complaint was lodged and they are unable to trace the bag.
Abdul Aziz Barudgar had boarded an Air India flight (AI 985) to Muscat on October 29, with his family for a vacation but the family’s joyful mood soon turned into a disappointment after they found out that one of their five bags was missing. They realised about the missing bag only after reaching their destination in Muscat.
Speaking to the Free Press Journal, Barudgar said, “When I reached Muscat one of my bags was missing from the baggage counter. I enquired about it with the officials at Muscat Airport but was shocked to know that the bag was not loaded from Mumbai itself. Accordingly, the officials at Muscat Airport gave me a receipt for my missing bag with my name and tag number written on it.”
Barudgar claims that he has filed at least three complaints with the AAI but yet the officials are clueless. He said, “On my return from Muscat the very first thing I did is I approached airline baggage counter officials on the International Airport Terminal 2 in Mumbai. I was surprised that they had no knowledge about my bag though they assured that I would get my bag soon. With no positive response from the concerned officials, I finally lodged complaint about my missing bag thrice with the AAI, but still they are clueless about my bag.”
An airline official on condition of anonymity said, “We are trying to find the misplaced baggage of the passenger and the investigations are going on, however it would be premature to comment at this stage.”
