I love working and can never be a housewife, says Jia Shankar from Queens Hai Hum

Television actors Jiya Shankar recently plays the role of Shreya Rathore in Silver Ivory Productions’ Queens Hain Hum opens up about the show and herself…

What shows have you done?

> I started off doing leads in south films, two in Telugu, one in Tamil which has just released all over by warner brothers. “Kanavu variyam” is the title of the film (Tamil) After doing many episodics, I did my first show on Big magic titled PMS (pyaar marriage shhh) with sunshine productions.

What are your character details in Queens hai Hum?

I play Shreya Rathore who was newly married and the youngest to enter the group and  goes through a lot where she discovers her family’s dark secrets, one of which is her husband being impotent, but still, decides to continue the marriage. She has always been bold but thanks to her queens who encouraged and supported her throughout so she could be that strong in every situation.

How much do you relate to the character?

50% I guess. Personally I can never stay home all the time, I love working and can never be a housewife. But attitude wise yeah I can relate. She’s bold when she has to be, but she’s also sweet and soft spoken.

How is it working with Silver Ivory Productions and Jyoti Gupta?

> We’re blessed to have a producer like Jyoti sir. He carries such a positive energy with him that as soon as he enters the room you feel happy. He’s one of the kindest souls and one of my favourites.

The concept of the show is very bold. Comment.

> It’s not bold it’s the truth, it happens in most of the families but we don’t like to talk about it, accept it or own it. Well, the concept of the show is bold and they’ve got a Bold Queen too, what do you have to say about that?

The title of the show is also unique. Comment.

> It’s a title with every girl’s name on it. We’re proud to own it and say it loud Queens Hain Hum! (Every girl should feel the same, cause all of us are Queens )

Any interesting incident from the set?

> There are many. When there are 5 of us imagine how hard it could be for our unit to handle us. Be it Patrali’s slip of the tongue during a serious scene or our pranks on each other, every day is a fun day and a memory with queens.

Who is your favourite co-star?

> All of them are my favourite and I am so lucky to have met these guys and made such amazing friends for life.

What feedback are you getting for your role?

> People have been really kind supportive and loving. They’ve loved our chemistry and have names us Adireya. They’ve also liked my new look. They’ve been constantly supporting since the start.
