The 18th edition of MAMI Mumbai Film Festival is open for entries, Indian as well as International films in the competitive and non-competitive sections. Grand cash prizes amounting to over Rs 1,00,00,000 are up for grabs. Arguably, the biggest privately run filmfest, the 18th MAMI will run from October 20 to 27, 2016. Competition entries must be submitted before August 1, 2016.
MAMI has showcased some of the best global and domestic films including Fireflies in the Abyss, Killa, Shahid, Visaaranai, Court and Fandry. This year’s edition has three categories in the competitive section. The International Competition focuses on new cinematic voices and is open to debut filmmakers who have films made within one calendar year of the festival.
The India Gold section is a showcase for feature films produced in India this year. MAMI will provide the filmmakers a platform for international promotion. Dimensions Mumbai is a short film section exclusively for young filmmakers from Mumbai. The section will screen short films from Mumbaikars below the age of 25.
MAMI is also inviting submissions for non competitive sections such as ‘The India Story’ , ‘After Dark’ and ‘Discovering India’, that were launched at last year’s edition. Apropos eligibility requirements for Indian Entries – the director or one of the producers of the film must be an Indian citizen.
