Shiv Sena's chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said he and party colleague Sanjay Pawar will on Thursday file their nomination papers for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls.

Shiv Sena's Kolhapur district president Sanjay Pawar will be the party's second candidate for the June 10 Rajya Sabha polls, Raut had said on Tuesday, in a clear snub to former MP Sambhaji Chhatrpati who was seeking support for his candidature.

Sharad Pawar bats for caste census

NCP president Sharad Pawar on Wednesday demanded a caste-based census, saying such an exercise was necessary to ensure social equality.

Addressing a meeting of the NCP OBC cell, Pawar said everybody should get what is rightfully due to them.

"We are not asking anything for free. There is no option but to conduct a caste-based census," the former Union minister said.

Media professional loses Rs 50,000 in email fraud

A 24 year-old female media professional has been duped of nearly Rs 50,000 by a cyber fraudster who sent her emails from a fake ID using her senior's name and asked her to transfer the amount in her bank account, a police official said on Wednesday.

According to the Vakola police station official, the victim works in a private media house.
