HC dismisses three PILs by same person against Uddhav Thackeray, Sanjay Raut and NCP worker

The Bombay High Court on Monday dismissed three public interest litigations filed by a person seeking probe against Shiv Sena leaders Uddhav Thackeray and Sanjay Raut as well as a Nationalist Congress Party functionary after noting the pleas were "politically motivated and publicity seeking litigations".

A division bench of Justices S V Gangarpurwala and S G Dige dismissed three PILs, one seeking probe against former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray following the case lodged against NCP leader Anil Deshmukh.

The second plea sought investigation against Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut for his alleged role in misappropriation of figures of patients in COVID-19 centres The third PIL sought investigation against a NCP worker for making statements that could have allegedly caused disharmony in public.

The bench was on Monday miffed with the number of petitions filed by the person, one Hemant Patil, who claims to be a social worker.

The Indian Navy's Western Naval Command will conduct a coastal defence exercise 'Sea Vigil 2022', on November 15 and 16 involving the Coast Guard, Maharashtra police and other stakeholders, a senior Navy official said on Monday.

Apart from the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and police from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, personnel from the customs, Central Industrial Security Force, department of fisheries, Directorate General (Shipping), port authorities, oil handling agencies, Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships and other relevant state and central agencies will be part of the exercise, Captain Sunil Menon, Command Coastal Security Officer of the Indian Navy said.

Government determined to free Thane city from traffic congestion: Eknath Shinde

The much-awaited Kalwa Khadi bridge third route was inaugurated on Sunday by Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde along with the presence of ministers from Thane and Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) chief Abhijit Bangar.

During the inauguration, the Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde said, "Various projects are being planned to provide relief to Thanekars from internal traffic jams. The projects include a bypass, bridges, and an extension of the Eastern Freeway and the planning authorities MMRDA and Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) are working on it. I believe that all the roads in Thane will be free from traffic jams very soon."

The bridge constructed over Kalwa creek connects Thane city and Kalwa and also reaches Navi Mumbai via Thane- Belapur from Thane city. 93% work of this bridge has been completed. However, to remove the traffic congestion in this area, the route from Thane Police Commissioner's Office to Kalwa Chowk - Belapur Road is being opened for traffic.
