The campaign covers our endeavor towards cleanliness in all spheres of Railway functioning i.e, stations, trains, colonies, offices, depots, and workshops etc, while also promoting awareness among staff and passengers. Western Railway is also actively partaking in this "Swachhata Abhiyan" and is being observed across all its divisions and units with great enthusiasm.

Workshops on sanitation and station upkeep are being conducted at railway stations, railway colonies and offices. Similarly, special workshops and training programmes are also being conducted for staff who have direct interaction with the public. A Street Play was performed by railway Scouts & Guides team at the Divisional Railway Manager’s office motivating the railway employees highlighting the importance of cleanliness, as well as to adopt better hygiene practices in their routine lifestyle.

Vineet further informed that Shramdaan and intensive cleanliness drives, are being conducted across various stations, railway colonies, and office premises of Mumbai Central Division. During the campaign period, approx. 2000 meters of drains near the railway tracks were cleaned, ensuring better hygiene. Awareness campaigns focusing on the importance of environmental protection are being held at various locations.

These campaigns helped spread knowledge on sustainable waste management and protection of natural resources.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Division conducted anti-littering drives at key stations, urging passengers to dispose of waste responsibly and keep public spaces clean. In line with its commitment to environmental sustainability, the Coach Care Centre at Mumbai Central conducted an awareness campaign on the use of Bio-Toilets. A team of railway staff engaged with passengers at Mumbai Central Station, educating them on the benefits of using Bio-Toilets and how they contribute to better sanitation and waste management.

Further, in order to encourage people to pledge their commitment to cleanliness, Swachhata Hastakshar (signature campaigns) are being organized. Awareness drives for catering staff and inspections are also being carried out at food establishments, pantry cars and base kitchens. Passengers are motivated to use Plastic Bottle Crusher Machines to reduce plastic waste as well as proper disposal of waste in dustbins only.
